The Sun has got his hat on...
Hello All!
Summer's on it's way :D
So here are a few items on a summer theme...
Think freshly mown lawns, strawberries, cream and icecream.....the
distant crack of leather on willow at Lords and a call from Wimbledon
for new balls please! click on images for more info.

New Balls Please! Bride holds key for Groom's Ball and Chain.

Cricket players set of 5

Tennis Players Male or female

It's always fun to grow a giant Sunflower in the garden, this cutter by
PME will help you create one out of icing. Available in two sizes, It's
a plunger cutter so it embosses as it cuts too :)
I'll add some more themed suggestions later on....in the meantime enjoy
the late spring sunshine....
Happy Icing!

Happy New Year 2008!
Hello all!
Happy New Year!

Here's to more Cake decorating edible fun during 2008!
After a month of hectic seasonal festive cake decorating, now's your chance to sit back, relax and plan for the year ahead.
Winter thoughts....
A great idea to do during these long winter evenings is to spend some of this time sorting out your cake making and decorating equipment box. Find out what you have or don't have, what you need to replace etc.... are your piping tubes and cake tins clean? ...do you have plenty of greaseproof paper in store? etc..
Write a list of family birthdays and special occassions that you may be asked to make the cake for...jot down some suitable notes next to each....what type of cake base or icing do they prefer? ...what did you make for them last year? How old will they be? What are they most interested in? etc...
Another great idea is to just sit down in a comfy chair next to a roaring fire whilst reading through your library of cake decorating books and magazines looking for inspiration and drinking as many mugs of hot cocoa as you like.... :D
Cheers!

Cake Decorating Ideas
Cup Cake Ideas..
First up (see below) we've used
silver
cake boards and pillars, muffin cases and some ribbon. Adding an
iced cake for the top tier with
a
bride and groom cake topper. The cup cakes have been iced with
white icing and decorated with a small handmade sugarpaste rose bud
with
piped
leaves...

Secondly here's a close up of how to make use of the
butterfly
cutter and some
flowerpaste.
Colour your paste, roll it out nice and thin, cut out your
butterflies and leave them to dry hard on a 'V' shaped piece of card.
Add silver decoration when dry and place on your cup cakes using a
small amount of
royal
icing. The cup cakes shown below were baked in
Silver
Muffin Cases.

New Year Cake Decorating Equipment M.O.T.
Hello,
How was your Christmas?
Now the cake's been eaten and there are smiles on everyone's
faces....it's time to relax in your favourite comfy chair and dream
up fantastic cake ideas for 2006.
Like any good Workman, Boy Scout or Girl Guide, Cake decorators
should adhere to the motto "Be prepared".
Whilst you've time, and still in a tidying up mood, get out all
your sugarcraft or Cake decorating equipment and make sure it's still
all there, cleaned, sorted and ready to hand for the year ahead.
There's nothing worse than come spring you open your draw or tool box
and find red and green icing still clinging to your cutters and
blocking up your icing tubes....
If you've been asked to create a Wedding cake for a Spring bride,
then now is the time to check their design details...if you need to
make Sugar flowers or Bride and Groom models then start them now
whilst you're stuck indoors hiding from the weather...
Check your Edibles, colourings and favourings, if they're out of
date then you need to throw them away ...go on, empty right to the
back of the kitchen cupboard, I bet there are things in there that
are over five years old...If you don't like the thought of waste,
then use them up now whilst you've time to practise your skills, but
I wouldn't recommend eating any of them...
Tubes should pipe straight, Rolling pins be free of marks,
smoothers smooth, Tins clean of any left over cake...etc..etc..
If there's something you always need to look for, find it now and
put it somewhere ready to hand. Like a workshop, everything should
have a home. Don't Just throw your equipment into a kitchen draw or
tupaware container marked Sugarcraft/cake decorating....make
compartments or put things in resealable bags or small boxes with
labels on them.
Make Life Easy, Knowledge is Power, if you know where your
equipment is you'll not waste time looking for it....you'll have the
time to decorate your cakes to the best of your ability...and enjoy
the art of icing.
I hope the above advise is of use...
Here's to 2006!
Cheers!
